“The bags and puffiness under my eyes were so heavy, I couldn’t hide them with makeup anymore.” – Emily

“My vision was starting to get blocked because my upper eyelids sagged so much. We first spoke about the functional benefits of more visibility but the cosmetic benefits have been wonderful too!” – Hazel

How An Eye lift Works

Part One: The Consultation

Younger, more youthful eyes begin with a comprehensive one-on-one consultation. During this consultation, we’ll evaluate the condition of your upper and lower eyelids looking at factors like excess skin, fat deposits, and muscle laxity.

We’ll discuss what your specific goals are like erasing under-eye bags and lifting sagging eyelids.

Depending on your goals there are multiple versions and we’ll go through the differences between all three: upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty, or a combined approach.

Other things we’ll cover include how each works, what you can expect during your recovery, and what specific questions and concerns you have. This consultation usually takes about an hour and no detail will be overlooked!

Part Two: The Surgery

Depending on which option you pick the procedure typically lasts about 90 minutes and depending on your preference and my recommendation can be done with either local or general anesthesia.

For upper eyelids, a small incision is made along the natural crease to remove excess skin and fat. For lower eyelids, the incision may be just below the lash line or inside the lid to address puffiness or wrinkles.

Once complete, your eyes are carefully bandaged and you can go home the same day. You’ll receive a detailed aftercare plan, including gentle cleansing instructions and a prescription for mild pain relief or antibiotic ointment to prevent infection.

Part Three: The Recovery

After your blepharoplasty, the focus shifts to healing and revealing your refreshed look.

The first 48 hours involves rest with your head elevated to reduce swelling. Cold compresses will help ease bruising which peaks around day three before fading.

Stitches (if used) come out in 5-7 days and most patients return to work or light activities within 10-14 days.

Over the next 4-6 weeks, residual swelling subsides, and your final blepharoplasty results emerge. Me and my team are with you every step of the way to ensure optimal healing!

Most Natural Eye lift

One of the top concerns my patients have when considering an eye lift is how natural the final outcome will look. They want to look refreshed, not overdone. Here’s how I ensure that happens…

Customizing to Your Unique Features

No two faces are the same, so I study your eye shape, skin tone, and brow position to plan a blepharoplasty that fits you perfectly, keeping your look authentic and personal.

Hiding Incisions in Natural Lines

For upper eyelids, I tuck the incision right in the natural crease where it blends seamlessly once healed; for lower lids, I often use a transconjunctival approach—inside the eyelid—so there’s no visible scar at all.

Removing Just the Right Amount Of Skin

I carefully remove excess skin, tighten what’s loose, and sometimes reposition fat to smooth hollows, but never overdo it—too much can leave you looking stretched, and I’m all about avoiding that surprised look.

Guiding a Smooth Recovery

I’ll have you use cold compresses and sleep with your head elevated for the first few days to keep swelling minimal—simple steps that help your refreshed look emerge naturally within weeks, fully settling in a month or two.

Common Concerns About an eye lift

Undergoing eyelid surgery is a big decision. Here are the most common questions and concerns I hear from my patients…

“How long will recovery really take?”

The initial blepharoplasty recovery period lasts about 10-14 days, this is when swelling and bruising are most noticeable.

During this time, you’ll want to avoid strenuous exercise or heavy lifting, but light activities like walking are encouraged to boost circulation.

By week two, most patients feel confident returning to work or social settings, often wearing sunglasses for extra comfort.

Full healing—where all subtle swelling disappears—can take 4-6 weeks, though you’ll see dramatic improvements much sooner.

We provide a personalized timeline both during your consultation and after your procedure so you know exactly what to expect.

“How painful is recovery and how do you help me manage it?”

During the eye lift procedure, anesthesia ensures you feel no pain.

Post-surgery, it’s not pain but more of a mild discomfort like tightness or a slight burning sensation. This is easily managed with over-the-counter pain relievers or a mild prescription, depending on your needs.

Most of my patients definitely say it’s less painful than they thought with their discomfort peaking in the first 2-3 days and fading quickly after.

We’re always here for you and will check in with you regularly to make sure you’re doing well on top of our scheduled follow up appointments.

“Will the scarring be noticeable?”

Scarring is a huge concern because, let’s be honest, they reveal you’ve had something done. With a blepharoplasty it’s minimal and discreet.

Upper eyelid incisions hide in your natural crease, while lower eyelid cuts tuck just below the lash line or inside the lid and are virtually undetectable once healed, and definitely nonexistent with normal mild makeup.

Over 6-12 months, these fine lines fade to blend with your skin tone, especially with proper care (like sunscreen and silicone scar gel, which we give you).

My surgical techniques also ensure your eyelid surgery scars are as invisible as possible.

What Our Patients Are Saying About Their eye lift

“I was nervous about surgery, but the results are so natural—no one can tell I had anything done. I’m obsessed with my brighter eyes!” – Emily T. 55

“The puffiness under my eyes was a constant battle. I can’t tell you how much I’ve spent on expensive creams and makeups with minimal to no results. After my blepharoplasty, they’re completely gone. I still can’t believe the difference it made.” – Mary D. 60
